This restaurant rates right up at the top of our list. The decor was nice, the service was the greatest and the food was amazing. My daughter, husband and sister and myself enjoyed a wonderful meal together. Our waitress was friendly and efficient. The food was well presented and extremely delicious. The dessert was totally awesome. Even when making the reservation the person was friendly and extremely helpful. This was our first time to this restaurant and it certainly will not be our last.
After months of insurance-related renovation work to get the building back in shape, we can all breathe a sigh of relief that David's great food and wine offerings are back in business. We missed the great 3 course fixed price option along with the high quality regular menu. And on top of that, the chairs were more comfortable than we remember, so we were glad he did some changes there. Getting to his Richmond St. location was a bit of a challenge given all the construction going on around it. But then, that's London !!!
On our return visit during the first week of August, I had the regular menu steak and my wife enjoyed the 3 course menu. I started with the caesar salad that was enhanced with fresh ground pepper. It would have been nice to see a block of parmesan being grated over the salad, but few places in London do this. Pity. Our wine was a Californian red that went perfectly with the main courses. Sadly, he has withdrawn his regular wine list from the web site.
Service was excellent by his daughter who has learned some positive examples from her dad. We did not feel rushed, and the pace was relaxing.
Only one recommendation: it would be great if David would put reservation capability on his web site, or, even better, enlist in the Open Table booking system Oh well, he's usually busy enough and doesn't feel he needs it.
Having said that, we'll be back...soon. You should too !
My brother & I always go to this restaurant for our private happy birthday celebration and high quality meal. The service is always so great at David's and the restaurant is cosy. We went again last month and we couldn't have enjoyed our evening more. Thank you!
A little restaurant on the Richmond strip that is lead by the kindest staff serving top quality food. A variety of unique dishes that are perfectly done. Reservations highly recommended. We visited on a Sunday after 6pm with reservations and it was a full house.
Decent not fantastic honestly you can do better than this place for what you are paying. In all honesty nothing was wrong with my meal here but it just wasn't as good as I was expecting. Plus it is over priced for what it is.
Have been here many times with friends. It is expensive but not overpriced considering the dynamic meal you are served. The dining area is bistro like with checked table cloths and probably seating for no more than 30. It's difficult to pick one item from the menu that shines as they are all well prepared. We usually order a fish dish and compliment it with one of their fresh and carefully unique salads. At dinner David emerges from the kitchen to greet customers particularly welcoming returnees who he knows on a first name basis. Wine list is excellent to compliment any menu item. Desserts excellent and service timely and friendly. Truly one of London's best restaurants.
I will never get tired of this place. I have been eating here for over 7 years and every time it is consistently great. Amazing food and exceptional service always.
Great!. Lived in London Town for 20 years and have always known it was there...finally decided to go. Good honest food by a wonderful and gracious host and Chef. David's is welcoming and non-pertentious. The food is classic French, simple but elegantly prepared. Chèvre soufflé with frisée and lardons was a perfect appetizer, the balsamic reduction was divine, and the soufflé was light and flavourful. Following this I enjoyed the canonic Provençal fish and seafood stew. The saffron broth could have been an entree on its own, but was happily accompanied by the scallops, prawns and ocean perch. The meal culminated with a trio of local artisan cheese. All paired nicely with a well priced Pinot. Well done David and crew, we will be back!
Amazing food!. Visited on a Friday night with an 8 pm reservation. Small space and every table full however tables spaced well and music low which makes for an intimate and romantic experience. Charming and quaint atmosphere with perfect lighting. Wine list was good with lots of interesting options. Food was ....amazing! Chef prepared a special vegetarian polenta dish with a mushroom goat cheese tarte. I also had the mixed green salad with crispy parsnips. Presentation was beautiful and I really cannot describe in words how incredible the taste was of both dishes. the service was impeccible as well. Love this restaurant! Food and experience 5 star.
Hidden Gem!. My partner and I went to David's Bistro for our anniversary dinner last night and were blown away. It was our first visit and we'd actually never heard of the place before. It's very unassuming from the street front. Anyway, we decided to check it out when we saw the great reviews online, and we were not disappointed. The atmosphere was wonderful
Consistently the best fine dining in London. The changing menu is fantastic with new things to try. Wine list is extensive and actually reasonable which is hard to find in a restaurant of this level. Family owned, unique and local. Always our go-to for special occasion dinners.
Update: yup, still 5 stars!
Food so good that we came back twice in 1 week because we couldn't decide which entrees to have. The staff here is very kind and the atmosphere is cozy. Highly recommend!
I had a last minute decision to go to Dave's tonight for dinner. It is important to make a reservation here, since it is usually full. I ordered a 3 course meal and was extremely delighted with my choice. The chef made an amazing meal I enjoyed very much. The staff is friendly and attentive. I will return.
Came in for my mom’s 50th birthday. I had high expectations because of the reviews and they blew it out of the water. Food was phenomenal, the Scallop and Risotto was our favourite but everything was great. The boar was cooked perfectly, very tender, and the sauce and veggies were a delight. The dessert and appetizers was very well balanced and delicious (actually everything was well balanced and thoughtfully prepared).
Everything was also well portioned and the atmosphere of the space very much enhanced the experience.
If we’re ever back in the area we will be sure to visit again.
Amazing! My husband picked this for dinner with my mom's surprise trip into town. We will be back to try more itmes. Everything was amazing. Service was great. Didn't feel rushed and was able to enjoy every bite of food!
Can't say enough good things about this lace. They have the magic formula - I went in, saw multiple things on the menu and wine list, could only choose a couple, really enjoyed them and knew while there I'd have to go back to try some other stuff.
Had the prix fixe - good value and tasty food!
Delightful downtown spot with a charming ambiance and great food. The shrimp and bacon pasta was the star here - these shrimp were so massive I thought they were crawfish at first! Very reasonable price/quality ratio.
I had a great experience at David’s. It took me longer than it should have to try this great gem. Now that I have it’s definitely one of the top restaurants on my list for London. Everything tasted Amazing and the service was excellent. I’ll definitely be back. Thank you.
All I can say is what a hidden gem, the food was extraordinary I had the priest fix and for that price you can’t go wrong. Their menu looks delectable as well, My waiter was great at his job, and made great suggestions. I will definitely be returning numerous times. They also have something called trust me, which apparently after you’ve been there a couple of times you tell them I trust you and they will cook you up a two or three course meal depending on what you prefer and surprise you, what a great idea after my second or third time there I will definitely do so. The wine list is extensive, with great pairings. I gave this restaurant five stars plus plus plus.
Well I’ve now eaten at David’s Bistro 11 times since my first review and I have yet to be disappointed in any part of there service ,Food , and atmosphere. Another wonderful experience, thank you very much David and Natalie, and Ryan.
Food design is very Canadian and heathy. Environment is good and I like the bunch of tulip near the door (no pic)! Salad is great but I don’t like the salmon with saffron flavour rice...too creamy for me and may need some sour flavour to balance out. Soup was okay but we did not finish it either. Maybe just we are not that hungry, cannot blame too much on the restaurant though. May go again? Location is convenient..
